Olympics Update: Sunday, August 4

This morning: Zoe runs 11.13, Erika goes for her last Olympic swim at 7:28am!

What to watch this morning:

• 7:28am - Swimming - Paris 3

  • Erika Fairweather - 800m Freestyle (FINAL)

Here’s what happened since yesterday’s email:

• Athletics - Zoe Hobbs - 100m Sprint (Semifinal)

  • Zoe ran 11.13s, just short of the 11.07 needed to advance to the final, but placing her in 14th overall. This ends her Olympic journey.

• Rowing - Emma Twigg - Single Sculls (Final)

  • Emma is bringing home a silver medal after an incredible race that saw her finish with a time of 7:19.14, just behind the Netherlands’ Karolien Florijn. This ends her Olympic journey and her Olympic career.

• Shooting - Chloe Tipple - Skeet Qualification (Day 1)

  • Chloe is currently in 28th place after the first day of qualification, shooting 23/25 (round 1), 22/25 (round 2), and 20/25 round 3). She’ll shoot in 2 more qualifying rounds on Sunday evening.

• Sailing - Greta Pilkington - Dinghy

  • Greta is currently in 30th place after Race 6, finishing 15th (race 4), 33rd (race 5), and 18th (race 6). She’ll continue racing tonight.

• Sailing - Veerle ten Have - Windsurfing

  • Veerle finished 7th in the quarterfinal, which was not enough to advance her to further rounds. She finishes the competition placing 10th overall! This ends her Olympic journey.

• Sailing - Erica Dawson (w/ teammate Micah Wilkinson) - Mixed Multihull

  • Erica (& teammate Micah) are currently sitting in 4th place with a total of 8 points. They’ll race again tonight.

• Canoe Slalom - Luuka Jones - Kayak Cross (Round 1)

  • Luuka finished 2nd in her heat, advancing her to another round of heats on Monday morning.
