Olympics Update: Tuesday, July 30
Black Ferns 7s in the QF at 7am, Erika swims for a medal at 7:53am!
Here’s what happened since yesterday’s email:
Rugby Sevens - Black Ferns 7s vs. Canada - Group Stage
Black Ferns 7s won 33-7 over Canada, seeing tries by Jorja, Risi, Jazmin, and Portia, and conversions by Tyla and Manaia. They won 38-7 over Fiji, placing them at the top of Group A and moving them into the quarterfinals against China Tuesday 7am.
Swimming - Erika Fairweather - 200m Freestyle Semifinal
Erika swam a 1:56.31 in her 200m heat, advancing to the finals on Tuesday 7:53am.
Surfing - Saffi Vette
Saffi had a tough heat and was unable to advance to Round 3. This ends her Olympic journey.
Rowing - Kate Haines & Alana Sherman - Pair (Repechages)
Kate & Alana finished in the final spot of the repechages, meaning they will not advance. This ends their Olympic journey.
Equestrian - Jonelle Price - Eventing Team Jumping (FINAL)
Jonelle (& horse Hiarado) received a 12.00 in the final jumping event, giving them a 71.20 total, ranking her in 40th place overall. Working with her team, New Zealand finished 8th overall.
Tennis - Lulu Sun & Erin Routliffe - Doubles (Round 1)
Lulu & Erin lost their first match 6-2, 6-3. This ends their Olympic journey. (If you haven’t heard: Lulu is the guest on our podcast this week! She has such an interesting story, give it a listen…)
Sailing - Jo Aleh & Molly Meech - Skiff (Race 4-6)
Jo & Molly are in 19th overall. They finished 9th in race 4, 17th in race 5, and 8th in race 6. They’ll race again tonight and tomorrow night, competing in 12 total races. If they rank in the top 10 after 12 races, they’ll sail for a medal.

Sailing - Veerle ten Have - Windsurfing (Race 1-4)
Veerle is currently sitting in 21st after 2 races. She finished 23rd in race 1, and 15th in race 2. Racing continues tomorrow (as long as the wind holds up)!
