Paralympics Update: Friday, September 6
It's the last weekend of the Paralympics...only 5 more events for our wāhine!
Here’s what happened since yesterday’s email:
Para Swimming - Lili-Fox Mason, Gabriella Smith - 400m Freestyle S10
Lili-Fox swam 5:00.42 and Gabriella swam 5:02.31, both just short of the time needed to advance to the finals. Gabriella will compete again on Saturday night in the 200m Individual Medley SM10. This ends Lili-Fox’s Paralympic journey - this was the debut Paralympics for the 19-year-old swimmer from Christchurch.
Para Swimming - Tupou Neiufi - 50m Freestyle S8
Tupou swam 33.40, just short of the time needed to advance to the finals. This ends the Paralympic journey for this Tokyo 2021 gold medalist. To learn more about Tupou, this Instagram reel shares her story (and she’s featured in the “Grit + Glory” documentary on TVNZ+).
